Sudan celebrates 20th anniversary of Salvation Revolution 

The National Salvation Revolution in Sudan celebrates its 20th anniversary today, the salvation government came into power through a military coup led by current President Omer Al Bashir on June 30th 1989, which makes it the longest ruling government in Sudan. Miraya FM contacted a number of political leaders to give their assessment on the Salvation Era.

A leading member in the National Congress Party, Rabie Abd Al Ati, outlined the political and economic accomplishments of the Salvation government pointing out the various challenges it faced such as the war in the south.

Meanwhile, a leading member in the Popular Congress Party, Kamal Omer, said the Salvation Revolution was meant to save the country but it went off track as he puts it.

The Vice Chairman of the Umma Party, Fadlallah Burma Nassir, shed light on the situation in the country before and after the rule of the Salvation government, saying that the situation has worsened nowadays as he says.

The Political Analyst, Abdul Wahab Al Afandi, blamed the Salvation for the failure of the Islamism scheme pointing that it created a negative outlook towards Islamists.
